Inuit Composite Whale Hunting Harpoon Head

This is an elegant Inuit harpoon head professionally made for Inuit whale hunting. The point with a single barb is iron. It is attached to two brass barbs by copper pins. It has a long section of cord which is attached to the harpoon between the two barbs by closely wrapped fine cotton string encircling part of the two barbs. The cord itself is hand made with a thick core of sinew which is closely wrapped with the same fine cotton string. An exceptional piece.
