19th Century Eskimo Walrus Ivory Block and Pully

This is a rare and unusual object.  Both the block and the pulley are hand carved from walrus ivory. The pulley revolves on a thick iron nail. The pulley is grooved on all four sides and has a thick hide cord over it which was cut off at some point. The outer surface of the pulley is dark with a crackled surface and part of the inside is worn and polished from use. This is a fascinating object.
