Eskimo Carved Fishing Lure
This is a very old Eskimo ivory lure which was carved from fossilized ivory to take advantage of the dark brown surface color of the ivory. It had inlaid eyes but only the rim of one eye is still in place. It has two sets of holes on the underside for attachments. The perforation at the back for attaching it to a line is broken off leaving just an indent. It is an interesting object and has good presence.
19th C. or earlier
