Sarsi (Tsuut'ina) Beaded Moccasins with Fringed Tongues

These are a striking pair of fully beaded moccasins. They are soft soled with fringed tongues and heavily fringed heels. The beading on the upper body is spot stitch with a decorative band below it of two rows of single needle work. The designs are colorful and abstract. The moccasins are in excellent condition although the soles show that they were worn for some time. They were collected along with the Woman's Beaded Belt, #8287 and a pair of well worn 19th century Sarsi moccasins, all of which were collected somewhere along the Canadian border in eastern British Columbia or Alberta. These are beautiful to look at.
