Plateau Beargrass Hat (Fez)

This is a wonderful early Plateau woman's hat in the truncated cone shape of a fez. It has the classic design of downward facing triangles below the top and upward facing triangles around the rim in a "zigzag" pattern. Each of the triangles has a smaller red wool open triangle within it with one to three crosses in the open space within the triangle. It has a narrow red wool band along the rim. This is a well worn and loved hat. There is some loss in the red wool in some places. The old beargrass hats are hard to find and this is a really good example.
