Plateau Child's Beargrass Hat (Fez)

This is an unusual hat, both for its size and the design. The hat was made for a pre-teen to early teenage girl as it is shorter with a smaller diameter than an adult Plateau woman's hat. It has an abstract floral design which is repeated three times around the hat. The floral design is in a different natural material and is dyed dark brown with orange and purple dyed accents. The rim of the hat is wrapped in a narrow hide band and there are three leather thongs at the top of the hat. This is a good piece to own and a good addition to any collection of basketry form.
