Northwest Coast Rectangular Cedar Bark Plaited Basket

This basket may be a Tsimshian basket, but it also could be a Kwakwaka'wakw basket or woven by other people along the west coast of Vancouver Island. The basket is well woven with three horizontal bands of light colored grass in the middle of the basket. The rim has a self stitch diagonal weave across it and a soft reinforcing roll on the inside just below the rim. It is in excellent condition and a good piece for a collector who has an interest in the material culture of the people in western British Columbia.
