Large Columbia River Burl Mortar
This is an old and very large Columbia River burl mortars It has two rectangular “ears” that are relief carved out from the body of the mortar and extend above the rim. Each has two hand drilled holes in them. The mortar has a rich, dark reddish brown patination reflecting the years and years it was used. It is the kind of object that reflects its age as well as being a powerful piece of art in its own right.
