Vancouver Island Halibut Hook

19th Century "U" shaped wood halibut hook with iron point.  The lower section of this piece where the iron spike is attached is wrapped with spruce root as is the end of the upper section.  This hook still has the long piece of cordage used to secure the bait when fishing and to wrap around the body to help keep its shape when not being used.  It also has the cord attached to the upper end to secure the piece to the fisherman's line.  A wonderful piece for a collector
