Scrimshawed Cribbage Board by Clyde Kookok
This is a beautiful scrimshawed walrus ivory cribbage board by the Yupik artist, Clyde Kookok from the Saint Lawrence Island village of Savoonga. The top of the tusk is covered with a dramatic geometric design in masterful close parallel scrimshawed lines in gray and light brown. The fineness of the work creates the optical effect of moray patterns in the center of the gray areas. The artist's name and address are carved into the underside of the tusk.
