Santa Clara Jar with Sgraffito Designs by Phyllis & Marlin Hemlock

This is a small Santa Clara blackware jar by the husband and wife potters Phyllis and Marlin Hemlock. The design on the jar is the image of a bear head, with a heartline, set with an inlaid turquoise stone for an eye which is repeated twice. The jar has fine sgraffito work on the background to accentuate the bear heads.
