Plateau Clam Shell Bead Necklace
This is a wonderful old native strung necklace with an abalone disk in the center. The majority of the beads on the necklace are 19th century native made Columbia River clam shell beads, which the Plateau call "wampum". These shell beads are 5/8" to 7/16" in diameter and 1/8" to 3/16" thick. The necklace has 28" of shell beads on it. It has 4 large green 20th century beads strong between lengths of shell beads and 5 old bone hair pipe bone beads at the top.
