Paiute Pitch Covered Water Jar

A classic gourd shaped high shouldered water jar which tapers down from the shoulder to a small rounded base, covered in a rich red hued pitch surface. It has two handles just below the shoulder composed of several strands of twisted fibers. The basket is in excellent condition.
