Old Plateau Root Bag

$ 1,250.00

This is an interesting root bag, probably from the Yakima area. It is made like a cornhusk bag with a warp of native hemp or dogbane and a weft of cotton string with a covering of cornhusk with wool designs in false embroidery. The design pattern is large open diamonds in red and olive green which cover the whole baskets. It has a very worn hide covering along the rim and who hide loops to hold a tump line. This is a very real working basket and a wonderful example to own.
