Navajo Tobacco Canteen
This hand-stamped canteen, with a design consisting of radial lines from the center and a series of crescents and circles stamps, was made by a skillful and creative silversmith. The two concho-like stamped silver discs are soldered together to form a round container. The neck of the canteen is soldered to the body and has been decorated with arrows that encircle the circumference. A handmade silver chain attaches the cap to the body of the canteen. These silver tobacco canteens or flasks are primarily made for their own use and are rather uncommon to find.
The weight of this flask would indicate that it was made from ingot silver and measures 4 inches from opening to edge. Its diameter is 2.75 inches.
