Karuk Lidded Treasure Basket

A beautiful Karuk lidded basket with a deep mahogany colored body. It has a design of three stacked parallelograms with a band of thin black diamonds running diagonally through their centers. The knob on the lid is woven as a separate piece so it can be removed and the rim of the opening for it is finished. I have never seen that before. The workmanship is even and the stitches are small and tight. The only damage is a small two stitch section at the rim of the lid next to 1" missing section of the finishing braid of the lid's rim. The basket is still visually exceptional and will be a pleasure to own.
