Inuit Carved Grey Whale on Mount

This is an exceptional carving of a whale. The whale is carved from fossilized ivory and is mounted on a triangular section of bone. The carver has created an image that is not static. You sense the whale is moving through the ocean. His giant flippers are down and against his body as if her were swimming toward the surface.
