Hopi Kachina Figure Wicker Plaque
This is an early Hopi wicker plaque with a design of a full standing Kachina figure wearing a tableta. The tray has faded somewhat as can be seen in the photographs of the front and back. The basket was collected by Phillip and Nannie Sayles who worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs at the Indian School at Keams Canyon as a "disciplinarian" and teacher respectively from December 1905 to October 1906. This is a rare chance to get a desirable basket with a clear provenance.
