Old Pit River Basket with Leather Fringe

This is not a basket for everyone. It is old and out of shape. It has a 3/4" leather fringe around the top with remnants of red wool cloth which may have covered the rim. It has a native shell bead handle with glass beads. The basket doesn't have any breaks or splits. Because of the leather fringe, we did not want to steam it to bring it back to round as the leather might have stiffened with the moisture.
