Early 20th Century Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace

This is an excellent coin silver and turquoise squash blossom necklace made by a Navajo silversmith between 1900 and 1920. The quality of the craftsmanship is breathtaking! Made using handmade chisels and silver stamps and melted down silver. Charcoal-fueled hearth fires and hand-operated, goat-skin bellows, or specialized alcohol blowtorches (mouth blowpipes), were used to reach the temperatures needed for soldering. And yet these bench beads are smooth and even, the blossoms are beautifully decorated with simple but precise stamp work, and the single natural turquoise stone it nicely polished.
