Plateau Beaded Cradle Board Doll
This is a Mid-Columbia style cradle with a leather headed doll inside. The headboard has a c. 1900 or earlier rounded panel sewn on to it. The beaded leaf design, possibly from a child's belt pouch, was created with very tiny faceted beads. The rest of the beads used on the cradle are larger and date before 1920. The leather covering the front and back of the headboard was stained with yellow ochre. The cradle has a collection tag stating it was purchased from the Dr. Thomas Griffith Collection, The Dalles (Oregon), 1974.
