Carved Bent Wood Box by Ken Humpherville

This is a very handsome Northwest Coast bent wood box by the Metis/Cree artist, Ken Humpherville (1947-2014). This is a corner oriented box with great carved Northwest Coast motifs. The outer surface of the box is a dark reddish brown which outlines and defines the carved elements. The three inch high lid has 6 inset opercula shells on two sides and is painted a lighter shade of brown.  It is signed on the bottom Ken H. This is a remarkable piece of contemporary Northwest Coast art.
