Mela Youngblood Blackware Prayer Bowl

$ 1,000.00

This black Santa Clara pottery vessel is in the shape of a Pueblo prayer bowl with the walls forming four stepped projections marking the four directions.  It was made by Mela Youngblood (1931-1990) who was the daughter of Margaret Tafoya. It is a highly visual form that will make a strong statement in a collection.  It is signed "Mela Youngblood Santa Clara Pue" and dated 1/11/74.  The book, "Seven Families in Pueblo Pottery", which belonged to the original owner, comes with this prayer bowl. It is signed by Mela Youngblood and her son Nathan and Nancy Yellow Aspen Youngblood.
