Baffin Island Ivory Sled Model

This is a very interesting sled model.  It has two long ivory runners with 8 ivory slats across the runners with a fur hide cover over the top.  On the fur is a coiled length of sinew with an attached miniature harpoon head representing the actual harpoon and attached line used in hunting. Also on the top of the sled is a miniature harpoon shaft, missing the harpoon socket.  This was collected between 1946 and 1949 in Pangnirtung, Baffiin Island.
