Walrus ivory Polar Bear Toothpick Holder

I think the form of this was intended to hold toothpicks but this is so much more. The front has a relief carved polar bear head with open mouth, large teeth and his tongue sticking out. The mouth is stained red. As I sit here with my lamp lit behind it, the ivory is so thin behind the mouth, that the light makes the red glow. A fabulous effect, a fabulous piece.
