Small Midwest Excavated Stone Pipe

This is a small, interesting and well carved small stone pipe, probably carried when traveling. It has a slightly expanding bowl with flat edges on each side going about half way down; these were probably done to make it more secure when held between between the thumb and the finger. The lower section of the pipe has two parallel groves running three quarters around the base with a triangular cut away section below it with a hole with coned sides. The lower edge of the base and the cut away section have fine ticking for design. The pipe came in an old small midwest family collection with a few large points from the Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri area.  I have no other information on the pipe.
