Northwest Coast Canoe by Tom Duquette

This is a dramatic piece of Northwest Coast art. Both the canoe and the sail are painted  with vivid designs using strong colors. The carving of the classic Northwest Coast canoe is excellent. The carver, Tom Duquette was born in 1940 In northern Ontario. Although not a Native American, his work is well respected. In 2001, Chief Frank Baker gave him the Salish name, "Ghaiaanook" which translated means "Great Carver".
