Folk Art Carved Texas IOOF Presentation Gavel

This is a handsome historical carving. Carved into the handle is the presentation dedication and the top of the handle is squared with the following carefully carved into it: "Presented by Dr. W H Trolincer to B F ChOristian Lodge No 102 IOOF Texas".  Around the handle grip is carved "Made by Wm Nichols of Kas" and at end of the handle the date "1888". The gavel head is covered with IOOF symbology including the three link chain, the all seeing eye, the scales of justice, the heart in a hand, and others.  The wood used in this piece is a warm tawny brown.
