Hopi Craft Silver Overlay Cuff Bracelet by Glenn Lucas

This cuff is an excellent example of world class Hopi silver overlay, executed in heavy sterling silver. It is handcrafted by the Hopi master silversmith Glenn Lucas. The saw work and chisel work are some of the finest we have seen. This appears to be one of his earlier pieces likely from the 1960's. The exaggerated crook design is a visual contrast to the smaller geometric stair step design.

Lucas was one of the well known instructors at Hopicrafts and taught many now famous artists, such as Arthur Batala and Phil Poseyesba. The cuff bears the Hopi Craft mark as well and Glenn’s own mark.

He is documented in both Gregory Schaaf and Bille Hougart's Books.
