Chinese mythology is filled with fantastical creatures, diets, and of course, the humble dog. Dogs are often seen as a hero's companion in many stories, leading the heroes through their journeys or playing important roles. In fact, in many South Asian cultures, dogs play a significant role in the development of agriculture.
