Tall Old Lidded Eskimo Basket

This is a tall lidded Eskimo basket with slightly rounded shoulders and a knob on the lid. The basket has vertical bands composed of a narrow and irregular pattern of red dyed seal gut and narrow bands of dyed grass. The shape of the basket is very similar to later baskets from Hooper Bay. There is some loss of the sewn grass on the base, one small area on the edge of the lid and occasional missing stitches on the body but overall the basket is in quite good condition.
