Fanciful Eskimo Scrimshawed Walrus Tusk

This wild tusk has scrimshaw in both the tight dark early style of scrimshaw with village scenes with stick figures, as often seen on bow drills, and a looser style with large fanciful animal heads, probably just polar bears, many with visible teeth. One scene has a umiak with a sail mast floating into the open mouth of a very large head. Another has a fish swimming into the open mouth of the head of a seal with a polar bear's head with open mouth behind it. This piece has a lot going on.
