Pipe Bag
$ 2,000.00
This is a very interesting visual and unusual pipe bag. The bold and colorful design on the beaded panels is the same on both sides. The leather neck of the pipe bag is long with two rows of large white beads along the rim and elongated triangles come up on both sides from the beaded panels. Below the panels are 2" long yarn wrapped panels in blocks of red and blue yarn. Below this is the long twisted fringe which looks and feels like it was taken from some other older pipe bag or other beaded item. This is a unique pipe bag. The plateau tribes did not have a tradition of pipe bags as the plains Indians did, so there are not a lot of examples and they do not necessarily adhere to a set style or pattern. This wonderful pipe bag is a great example and worthy of being in a good collection. This is from the personal collection of Steve Barrett and was collected in Eastern Washington.
