Late 19th C. Nisqually or Puyallup Partially Imbricated Basket
This is a well used small partially imbricated late 19th C Puget Sound huckleberry basket. The braided rim is intact and woven into the basket just below the braiding is the remnants of a band of red wool stitched across a horizontal band of beargrass, a very interesting detail. It has two heather loops below the rim on one side, both or which are broken. The imbrication is small but worn. This is a great basket for those people who really like baskets that were used by the Indians for years before they were collected.
