Owens Valley Paiute "New Years" Basket

This is a small, slightly oval basketry bowl with a pair of crossed flags on opposite sides and "Jan 1 1920" on the opposite ends and four diamonds on the bottom.  The basket has a rod foundation and coils to the left. It has a plain self-coiled rim with a dark cross stitch across the top.  The date is in black and the flags are in dark redbud.  This is another of those interesting baskets that have dates or names or other non-traditional motifs which make them so very eye catching in a collection.
