Lower Klamath RIver Basket

This is a handsome basket from Northern California.  It is probably Karuk as it has a very wide rich dark red band of red dyed Woodwardia fern around the middle.  The band is bordered by a bank of black maidenhair fern and is broken up at intervals by beargrass triangles w ith thier bases facing the center.  There are black triangles hanging above or below the band as well.  There are three stitches missing on the rim.  Otherwise, the basket is in perfect condition.
