Tsimshian Basket with "Alaska" on the Lid

This Tsimshian basket has a striking design of a band of rectangles with broad borders in undyed beargrass, which stands out against the warm red-brown of the cedar bark background. The lid has a knob and the word "ALASKA" woven in black dyed beargrass. It is a more successfully decorated Tsimshian basket than one normally sees.
