Plateau Patriotic Beaded Bag from Toppenish
A wonderful Plateau beaded bag with a great patriotic image of an eagle with a shield over its chest with outstretched wings holding two crossed flags. Written on the green felt back is "1928 Yakima Indians (Wapato). It was passed down in a family from Toppenish. Bags like this reflect the patriotic feelings following World War I. One also sees patriotic themes on bags from the 1940's during and following the 2nd World War.
