Plateau Beaded Flat Bag with Yellow Flower
This is a good old bag made during the period when the beadwork was transitioning away from contour beadwork. The woman who made this was not entirely comfortable with the straight line background and beaded the areas between the buds, stems and leaves at an angle. In addition, she beaded the interior of the two leaves in a full contour which I think she was much more familiar with. The leaves themselves are in a form seen on late 19th century contour Plateau flat bags. A nice example of earlier work.
