Plateau Beaded Eagle Bag
This is a wonderful bag with an eagle with outstretched wings holding an "olive branch" in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other. This bag was made very close to 1920 and even possibly a little before. The majority of the beads used are earlier beads including some tiny 19th C candy striped beads with only a little use of the later cut clear beads which came to dominate the Plateau beadwork beginning in the early 1920's and lasting into the 1940's. Another interesting element of this bag is that the blue background is beaded in vertical bands rather then the more traditional horizontal bands of beading.
