Northwest Coast Wood Carving of Bear Finial

This is a Tlingit carving of a sitting bear with its paws resting in front of him. It is the finial end of what was originally a carved salad fork or spoon made to sell. Often the other end gets broken and this is a good way to preserve the carving. The carving is good and interesting and has some of the appeal of a small totem pole. This carving makes a good visual statement on a desk or shelf.
