Lower Klamath River Basket

I believe that this basket is probably a Karuk basket because of the unusually deep mahogany red color the weaver was able to get from the woodwardia fern used in the designs in the basket. The basket has the bulbous shape typical of baskets from Northern California. The major design is a stylized "S" repeated three times around the body. The basket is in excellent condition.
