Punuk Period Fossilized Ivory Cord Handle
This is a complete Punuk (500 AD-1200AD) cord handle with carefully executed designs of straight and curved double lines ending with uniform circles with center dots. The handle is in the shape of a propeller with the hole on the side rather than in the middle. It is a simple but elegant form and has developed a good brown color. The cord handle is in excellent condition. For an example of a larger piece, see "Ancient Eskimo Ivories on the Bering Strait" by Allen Wardwell, # 138 at page 107.
