Folksy Plateau Beaded Elk Bag

This big yellow elk in a forest of flowers in a field of pink puts a smile on my face whenever I look at the bag.  It is a great piece of folk art.  It has as its backing a geometric bag face dating between 1910 and 1920 and the two were probably put together and made into its present form in the 1920's.  The binding on the bag is brown velvet which shows up on bags from the late teens into the early to mid 20's.  This is a wonderful piece for the collector of older pictorial Plateau bags and folk art.  For what its worth, I have been told over the years that the Yakima area was where the earlier geometric bags were made which would argue that this bag is from the Yakima area.
