Quinault Basket with Geometric Design
This is an interesting twined basket from Western Washington. I identified it as a Quinault basket because of the loops along the rim and the use of dyed raffia covering the loops and wrapping the rim. Although the Quinault are not noted for the use of wrapped twinging like the Makah and Quileute, they utilized this technique quite often in the 20th Century. I like the use of the lattice open section above the twined body and haven't seen many baskets with this. This basket is in excellent condition.
