Tlingit 19th Century Berry Basket

D. 7 ½", H. 8 5/8"

This is a rare Tlingit spruce root berry basket with its opposing cloth loops intact. The only design element is a band of diagonal false embroidery below the rim. The basket is stained in places with an overall brown surface. The only flaw is a small nail hole below the rim where it had probably been nailed to a wall at some time.
