Excavated Walrus Ivory Attachment
I am not sure what this interesting carving was intended to be attached to. It is sufficiently worn that it is not clear what the animal is. The ivory is fossilized to a honey color. It has interesting carving and scrimshaw along the sides and across the top. At some point it looks like the tail end was recut to a sharper form. It is one of those pieces that has good visual appeal and invites speculation as to what it is.
