Eskimo Ivory Owl with Extended Wings
This is an absolutely charming depiction of an owl. It was originally on a small rectangular ivory base and represented an owl landing on a rock. It was removed sometime in the past from the base. It was collected between 1946 and 1949 at Pangnirtung in Baffin Island, Canada. It is documented in a Canadian project recording more than 1400 Canadian Inuit sculptures in major private collections, a copy of the record will accompany the piece for the buyer's records. It has a tiny break at the tip of the right wing.
