Early Rondina Huma Hopi Pottery Jar
This beautiful black on red pottery jar by Rondina Huma, a very celebrated contemporary Hopi Potter was made in 1979, just 6 year after she actively started making pottery. The jar is completely covered with multiple compact small design elements drawn from traditional Hopi and earlier Sikyatki pottery which are flawlessly painted . This is very early in her career and shows the transition from the more traditional Hopi pottery to her later highly complex and intricate style of pottery. The signature is worn but it is signed "Rondina Huma, Polacca Arizona, Tewa, '79"
