Plateau Beaded Flat Bag

This is one of the most beautiful Plateau flat bags that I have ever had. If I were a younger collector, I would have kept it for myself, but I am at the age that I have to think of reducing my collection, not accumulating more. The woman who made it was very accomplished at beading and had an excellent sense of design and color. The bell shaped flower in the upper right and left corners represents the huckleberry, an important plant for the Plateau Indians. The back is machine sewn with an intricate geometric design. The bag came out of an old collection in Washington and is in mint condition.
